A coherent collection of writings

This book is a collection of excerpts from various scientific writings over 1500-1800. It provides the reader with all the "basics," actually starting before the time period covered, with some writings from Aristotle, Plato, and Lucretius. Most important scientific figures of the time are included here (Galileo, Descartes, Newton, Bacon, etc), as well as many of their lesser-known contemporaries, and excerpts are thoughtfully abridged to include only the necessary parts.
If you're looking for a concise collection of primary sources of this nature, this is a good book to check out.
